Lobster Robotics engineers autonomous underwater vehicles for precision seabed mapping. Our technology delivers millimetre-scale data for offshore energy and security of critical underwater infrastructure. In the past year, we expanded to 16 people and shifted from prototype to operational deployment. We combine research depth with field pragmatism & building systems that work in the real world. Backed by strong traction from the Dutch Navy and increasing involvement in NATO trials, we’re entering a phase of rapid scaling. Who we are looking for

You are an independent thinker and  conquered the battles of integrating your code into hardware for at least 3 years. You have experience in developing software that supports parallel or concurrent processing (multithreading) and in building high-performance computing systems.

A strong understanding of memory management, including pointers and memory safety is needed for the role, next to the ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and datasheets. We expect you to have a solid knowledge of common communication protocols such as SPI and I²C and hands-on experience with hardware debugging tools.

You are a hands-on, self motivated person and supportive to others in the team

It would be great if you have basic PCB design skills or developing drivers in embedded Linux.

What you will be doing

As an Embedded Engineer you will be responsible for the designing critical bare metal applications running on a number of microcontrollers throughout our vehicles and auxiliary equipment. You will be working closely with our electrical engineers to bring the system to live. Additionally your role covers the development of drivers and low level applications for embedded linux systems. This includes the development of fault tolerant interfaces for cameras and other sensors as well as enabling robust communication between vehicle and operator in challenging and varying conditions.
